I’ve been writing copy for major global brands for 24 years. I specialise in branding and tone of voice, and I travel the world telling businesses how to talk.
After great gigs at The Body Shop and Virgin Media, I joined Sky as Head of Copy to co-create their brand personality and tone of voice. That was 10 years ago and I’ve been their Lead TOV Consultant ever since, working on the launch of Sky Atlantic, Sky Witness, Sky Store, Sky Q, Sky Backstage, Sky Studios and NOW TV, and the re-brand of Sky One, Sky Arts and Sky Cinema.
When I’m not with Sky, I’m working on other brands - most recently: Durex and Paperchase. I’m also a D&AD masterclass trainer, and I run bespoke TOV and copy sessions across Sony Music Entertainment, ITV and Spotify. I speak at industry events too – most recently: Zee Melt in Mumbai, AIGA in USA, SEMPL in Slovenia and IMARK in Reykjavik, and at brands and agencies – most recently: Adidas, Publicis Langland and Zenith Media.
I'm @VikkiRossWrites on Twitter where I created #copywritersunite and @copynights to connect copywriters. I also created #CopySafari to give brands and agencies a new way to learn. It's a walk around town looking at words in the wild because it’s one thing to look at work on screen, but it’s another to consider it as consumers do.
In 2016, Andy Maslen and I created Copy Cabana and Copy Capital – the industry’s biggest event dedicated to copy. For three years, we welcomed leaders and legends to entertain and educate a sell-out audience of 200 copywriters and copy lovers.
In 2017, Creative Equals named me one of their Top 30 Female Creative Leaders. In 2019, Women in Marketing gave me a Special Award for Outstanding Contribution to Marketing (Agency). In 2020, The Dots named me one of their Top 100 Trailblazers redefining the creative industry.
