Chris Bamford is a Creative + Strategy Director at freuds, where he has worked for the last 10 years. He has more than 15 years agency experience and prior to that stints with ‘Aunty’ (the BBC), local newspapers and various fanzines.
While he is hewn from ‘traditional’ media materials, he has had a number of firm-ware upgrades over the years and is a passionate proponent of all modes of contemporary storytelling – from Emojis to experiential to Echo.
During his 10 years at freuds he has won precisely ‘zero’ awards, because freuds don’t enter awards. They let the work and their clients’ advocacy do the talking. So it is not without irony that he finds himself on the incredibly prestigious D&AD awards judging panel. However, it’s probably worth searching him on the way out, just in case he decides he can’t stare at his bare mantelpiece any longer.
At the time of writing his ‘to do’ list includes:
- Creating a legacy for one of the world’s most enigmatic and decorated chefs
- Helping Pharma’s embrace creative storytelling techniques and – more importantly – the concept of transparency
- Working with the world’s most prolific music producer on an open-source cinema score
That’s why he loves his job.
He whiles away his spare time with a radio show on HoxtonFM, curating intimate exhibitions of his photography and co-writing a musical about a well-known sportswear brand.
