Karen Hughes is Co-founder and Creative Director at the recently formed Edit_ Brand Studio, an independent brand consultancy and design studio based in the UK. Previously Creative Director at True North, Karen is an award-winning designer, with over 14 years experience working at two of the top creative agencies in the UK. After graduating from the University of Central Lancashire in 2004 as a D&AD New Blood winner, Karen began her career at The Chase before joining True North six years later. Over the past few years Karen has worked on a wide variety of branding projects for clients including Marks and Spencer, British Council, Sport England, National Portrait Gallery, Science Museum, Wellcome Collection and National Trust. Karen's work has featured in the D&AD annual over a number of years and has also been recognised by many of the major national and international design awards including Design Week, Creative Review, New York Festivals and DBA.
Beyond design, Karen enjoys writing; contributing articles and opinions to blogs and magazines including Computer Arts, Design Week and The Guardian's cultural blog. She also continues to support design in education, regularly setting student briefs and participating in talks for universities, colleges and schools through the Inspiring The Future initiative.
