In my first week of art school, a lecturer handed me a copy of ‘A Smile in the Mind’ by The Partners, and said “This is what we’re teaching you to do”. Reading it cover to cover (and again and again…), I realised I had been introduced to the creative pathway for me – ideas.

I graduated from Norwich School of Art & Design in 2005, and immediately moved to London to freelance at leading studios that shared my passion for ideas, such as HGV, GBH, Radford Wallis, Carter Wong and Blast.

In 2006, I landed my dream job at The Partners and was fortunate enough to work with the best people and clients from AstraZeneca, Deloitte, Random House, The National Gallery to Indian sausage start-up Mr Singh’s Bangras.

I gave back by co-running The Partners’ work placement programme, regularly giving talks to leading universities’ creative courses, reviewing portfolios and mentoring students.

In 2010/11 I decided to swap The Big Smoke for the South Coast, opening my independent design studio in Bournemouth. Since then, I have focussed my creative energy towards helping organisations whose causes I care deeply about – like National Trust, Greenpeace, Poole Festival of Running and many others across advertising, branding, packaging, environmental and digital.

I’ve been fortunate enough to win design awards from all over the world, including Design Week, Cannes, New York Festivals and six D&AD pencils (one black, one grey, four wood). My work has also been published in numerous journals, annuals and books – including in the revised 2016 edition of ‘A Smile in the Mind’.

My proudest achievement to date is collaborating with Macmillan Cancer Support on over 170 creative projects over ten years, helping them increase spend on cancer services by £74.9m / 71%.
