Mel Routhier currently serves as VMLY&R’s Chief Creative Officer for the WPP Walgreens Team, a cross-WPP group consisting of 25 creatives and multidisciplinary talent including specialists in brand, content, social and more.

She played an integral role in developing State Farm’s first new tagline in 40 years, “Here to Help Life Go Right” and the Cannes Lions award-winning “Following” campaign.

Mel has called Chicago her home for the entirety of her advertising career, having

A leader who tirelessly works to transform brands and make them famous, Mel’s work has received top honors at the major industry shows, including awards from Cannes, the London International Awards, Clios, Effies, Lürzer’s Archive, Communication Arts, ADDYs, REGGIEs, and the Chicago Advertising Federation.

In addition to being a 23-year veteran of the ad industry, Mel is also a 9-year vet of an equally challenging and fulfilling occupation—parenthood, where, along with her husband Eric, she serves as the co-Chief Operating Officer to her two small children, Elliot (age 9) and Faye (age 6 and—very precisely—three quarters).
