Rama Gheerawo is Director of the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design. Recently recognised by Design Week Awards 2019 for his lifetime contribution to socially inclusive design, and named one of 2018’s Creative Leaders by Creative Review next to Paul Smith and Björk, Rama is an international and inspirational figure within design, business and innovation.

He has transformed business, government and the public sector drawing on his experience in Design Thinking and Inclusive Design. He is a serial innovator in the fields of technology, products, services and transport having personally led over 100 projects with major clients looking at how design can address society’s toughest issues from ageing and healthcare to seeing how new forms of technology such as AI can benefit humanity.

Rama looks at how the ingenious processes of design can instigate positive change in individuals and organisations through his personal research in Creative Leadership, with over workshops delivered globally to train thousands of people including 600 civil servants to date. He is in high demand as a keynote speaker, and writes, curates exhibitions and runs workshops for audiences that range from students to business executives.

Rama advises major institutions such as the UK Design Council, the Design Museum, the Royal Society of Arts and the Design Management Institute.
