My name is Daragh and I design things.
Originally from Dublin, Ireland, I'm currently studying Design and Interaction at Central Saint Martins in Kings Cross, London.
My aim is to provoke intrigue through design, to convey messages and ask questions in new ways and to engage an audience through thoughtful, creative presentation of information. My work is digitally focused but I dabble in print and brand design.
The core focus of my self-directed work sits at the fringes of design and science, where I believe truly interesting things can be made by way of attempting to come up with visual analogies for complex scientific principles. By doing this, we enrich the visual culture of science and encourage interest and understanding.
I have worked as a design intern for Oxfam Ireland as well as designing brand aesthetics, artwork and moving image pieces for EMI records as well as freelance branding work for private design clients.
I wrote two albums and worked as a touring musician with my band 'Codes' - signing to EMI. The critically acclaimed 'Trees Dream In Algebra' record charted top 20 in Ireland and was nominated for the prestigious Choice Music Prize. I still actively write and produce music and see it as a great and underutilised design tool.
