Sascha Hanke began his career in the late 90s as a junior copywriter in Düsseldorf at EuroRSCG and Lowe & Partners. His first clients included Intersnack, Coca-Cola and Procter & Gamble.
He moved to Hamburg in early 2000 to work in the hub of creativity at Springer & Jacoby where he took on brands like McKinsey, Göritz, Hamburg-Mannheimer and Mercedes-Benz and won his first national and international awards.
In 2002, Sascha moved to Jung von Matt where he spent 10 years as copywriter, then creative director and finally managing director, all the while creating interdisciplinary, award winning work for major brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Daimler Beijing China, Bosch, RWE, SIX and 1&1, and small, agile companies like Dortmund Concert Hall.
From the beginning of his career, Sascha has focused on digital integration and deeply-anchored integrated processes and ideas. In 2011 Sascha won the first Integrated Titanium Lion awarded to a german agency at the international Cannes Lions Festival with the “Konzertmilch Dortmund” project which played no small role in Jung von Matt’s subsequent crowning as Independent Agency of the Year.
Shortly thereafter, in 2012, Sascha took the role of executive creative director at the Hamburg communications agency Kolle Rebbe and its design subsidiary KOREFE (Kolle Rebbe Form und Entwicklung). He became a shareholder for the agency group in 2015.
This position presented a diverse and challenging array of clients, from the Federal Employment Agency, Vorwerk and Hansgrohe to major new business wins like Germany’s largest telecommunications provider 02 / Telefonica and the logistics giant DPD.
Sascha was also responsible for the leap in creative excellence at Kolle Rebbe during his tenure. In 2013, the agency was named among the TOP5 most creative agencies in Germany and was listed as one of the TOP10 most creative independent agencies in the world by the Cannes Lions Festival. In 2014, for the first time in agency history, Kolle Rebbe was the most successful German agency at Cannes and the second-most successful independent agency worldwide. That same year the agency was ranked first by NY Festivals, CLIO, Eurobest, and D&AD.
After the tragic death of agency founder Stefan Kolle in 2018 and subsequent changes within the agency, Sascha took a creative break to reboot and reorient. After many intense discussions with agencies, brands and tech companies in Germany, England and the United States, Sascha once again found himself inspired by an established, owner-managed agency in Hamburg: BrawandRieken.
He became co-owner and creative managing director on April 1, 2019, joining agency founder and co-owner Peter Brawand.
Sascha Hanke is one of the most awarded creatives in Germany. In 2012 he was named as a juror at the prestigious Cannes Lions Festival. In 2013 and 2014, the business magazine "Capital" voted him among the TOP40 Young Talent in Germany. In 2017, Sascha became a regular speaker and panel moderator at the international music and digital event, Reeperbahnfestival, in Hamburg.
And no description of Sascha would be complete without mention of his passion for producing and consuming music.
He also actively writes columns for Spiegel Online, Wired and Business Punk, and is heavily involved in developing new creative advertising talent. He lectures regularly at the Hamburg School Of Ideas, the Miami Ad School Europe and ADC Germany.
