James is EVP, Global Head of Strategy at BBDO.

James has led strategy on some of the world’s most iconic and awarded campaigns from ‘Good Things Come to Those Who Wait’ (Guinness) to ‘You’re Not You When You’re Hungry’ (Snickers) to ‘Feed The Good’(Pedigree) to 'We Live to Deliver’(FedEx).

These ideas have unlocked creativity and innovation and won multiple Lions, Pencils and all sorts of other creative awards. In 2019 WARC named Pedigree the world’s 3rd most creative brand and Snickers ‘You’re Not You’ is one of the Enduring Icons in the new Cannes Creative Ladder.

In the time he has led strategy on Mars they were named Advertiser of the Year at Cannes, the One Show, and were the most awarded client at Cannes two years running.

An evangelist for the idea that creativity is the only remaining competitive advantage, James has won Cannes Effectiveness Lions, IPA Effectiveness awards including special awards for the Best International Campaign and Best Idea, an APG Gold for Long-Term Thinking and Gold Effies in the US and Europe.

A Canadian, James graduated from Queen’s University and began his advertising career at Scali, McCabe, Sloves in Toronto in 1992. He has called AMV/BBDO his home since 2001.
