'I don’t suppose we were any cleverer than any other year, but there was a combination of the right kind of teachers and the right kind of atmosphere.'
— Ken Garland
If my five years at university have taught me anything, it is to surround yourself with the right kind of people, the people you aspire to be. I want to carry this into my career as a graphic designer and be a part of a studio or agency that allows me to do that. I aspire to be a designer that students are taught about at university and for, eventually, someone to aspire to be the kind of designer I am.
I see retail and brand design as something I want to pursue further as a designer, working with big and small agencies to develop my digital and print skills. My focus this year has been to push what I know graphic design is to what I think it can be. Using experimental methods I think I have only just started to break this and want to push it further.
After studying in Porto during my 3rd year, I realised what culture has to offer graphic designers and graphic design. I want to be able to peruse this further and eventually practice graphic design around the world. Exploring different places is something I enjoy on a personal level and I’m excited to see where design takes me.
