Hello. I'm Dan. I've worked at a place called innocent since we started it in 1999, and nowadays I am the Group Head of Brand and Creative. These days my duties include working with the in-house creative team, and overseeing all design, copy and creative tasks, from ads to digital to books to packaging. I also try to focus on the areas of culture, sustainability, innovation and ethics, maintaining the brand's most important values. And I spend time trying to figure out how we stay innocent as we launch in new territories. Creating the tone of voice and the brand look/feel/culture from scratch are what I'm proudest of, and I'm still searching for ways to keep the business both useful and interesting.
In 2014 I was named Designer of the Year in the UK, beating Apple’s Sir Jonathan Ive and Sir Paul Smith among others http://bit.ly/1kvEB97
Other stuff I've done: a 12 week stint as Visiting Creative Director at Wolff Olins in London (Spring 2013), and a similar stint at Method in San Francisco in 2010. In 2012 I spent time away from innocent, working as a consultant and speaker, helping other businesses improve in the areas of creativity, tone of voice, being entrepreneurial, hiring the right people, writing adverts, etc. Clients included Dyson, BBC, John Lewis, Coca Cola, Investec, Harrods, GOV.UK/GDS (UK government digital service, UK Design Of The Year winner 2013) and MPC.
