I'm Jack. A 24 year old creative, currently working at google creative labs, London.
I’m applying for the New Blood Trustee role for one simple reason:
To help D&AD inspire creativity at a grass roots level.
As a kid I was lucky enough to know what D&AD was. My parents often had the annual lying about the house, propped up next to the other big books on the shelf. I saw the funny and challenging work, right from an early age. And I payed attention to it.
For most students D&AD comes in at the tip of the iceberg, the final part of education. A fantastic time. But I know how valuable it can be at a much earlier stage. Secondary school, even primary school. Because exposing kids to creative thinking could bring a new unexpected generation into the mix. Art classes shouldn't just be about how well you can draw a Picasso, but how you can expand your thinking.
D&AD does an incredible job for students. I’ve been lucky enough to experience it first hand. And, without doubt, I would continue to push and support it. But I also think D&AD has an amazing potential to inspire younger generations. And not just in London, but everywhere.
I really believe in creative thinking. I put my heart behind it. D&AD has helped me get better. Help me go further. An opportunity I think everyone deserves, right from the beginning.
