Danish designer Johannes Torpe is an unconventional and self-trained creative in every way imaginable. Working in the fields of interior, product, lighting and graphic design, while also producing music and playing the drums, he is not one to conform to established boundaries. He calls himself a design activist, dedicated to telling compelling and authentic stories through creativity and design.
Since his childhood, Johannes Torpe has allowed his creative energy and intuition to guide him. With support from free-thinking parents, Torpe has pursued his ventures without any conventional training. His keen eye for emerging trends and a holistic approach to the business of design is the driving force behind his creative consultancy expertise. This has given him the opportunity to surround himself with a team of multi-disciplinary experts from around the world, and the honor of having been the first ever Creative Director for luxury design and sound brand Bang & Olufsen from 2011 to 2015.
Being a true Jack of all trades in the design business, Johannes has designed everything from telephones, through nightclubs to luxury hotels in the past 25 years of his career. However, how people experience and engage with his designs has always been at the core of Johannes' work. The unconventional retail store concept developed for Bang & Olufsen, which puts a strong focus on an unexpected and magical user experience, is just one of many examples of Johannes' dedication to holistic experiential design.
