Tim Devine is the Executive Creative Director at AKQA, leading multiple design research teams across the Australian and New Zealand studios.
Tim’s teams create catalysts for change through hands-on exploration of emerging technologies, working on design research sprints aimed at products, services and systems discovery. Prior to joining AKQA in 2011, Tim was the co-founder of Media Lab Melbourne and worked as a designer and media artist in Australia and Europe.
Tim’s passion for exploring the unknown through design combined with his multifaceted creative background make him an engaging and unique industry commentator. He has been interviewed by organisations such as the BBC, ABC and Radio Sputnik, and spoken at events across Australia and Europe including Ars Electronia, Melbourne Music Week, Semi Permanent, Technarte Bilbao and Computational Aesthetics London. Tim’s speaking topics include emerging technology, artificial intelligence, critical design, bio art, music technology, generative design, data visualisation, media art, the dark web and creative applications of technology.
