Robert Kay leads the team at Edelman Malaysia. Before Edelman he was the managing director of Leo Burnett & Arc in Malaysia.
Robert has lived and worked in Europe, Australia, Asia and the Middle-East.
He worked for a number of years at Saatchi & Saatchi London, before doing something wrong. He was then sent to Australia (by plane not ship).
Over the years he bluffed his way into a number of half-decent companies including managing all aspects of marketing and product development for The Coca-Cola Company in Australasia; as a business leader in Australia for both George Patts and The Campaign Palace and then as the chief executive of one of Asia’s most awarded agency groups, Batey Ads.
Robert then spent a few years helping run a sheep farm in highland Perthshire, and on his way back to Asia took a long layover to manage TBWA in Abu Dhabi for a couple of years.
Surprisingly he’s been allowed to work with some well recognised brands (but he did promise not to break them). They include Coke, diet Coke, Singapore Airlines, Etihad Airways, Westpac, National Australia Bank, Mercedes-Benz, Castlemaine XXXX, Le Creuset, HP, StarHub, Maxis and the Singapore Tourism Board. Work in which he played a very small part has been recognised at Cannes, One Show, Campaign Press & Posters and at most major effectiveness awards. He is an awarded member of D&AD.
He is possibly the worst golfer to ever emanate from Scotland, and regularly falls off horses.
