I first had work included in the Annual - and so became a Member of D&AD, while I was a Graphics student at the LCP - now the London College of Communications. It was 1980. The following year I won one of D&AD's student awards. For the next 18 years I was a writer and Creative Director at some killer agencies: Halls; TBWA; BMP; BWBC; and, finally, APL. My work's in the book in quite a few years between 1980 and 1997. In 1999 I said goodbye to agency life and set up on my own, as a freelance copywriter, working directly for clients, large and small, with real business problems to solve. It's an honourable profession.
