Awa is a laundry detergent that cleans rivers. It contains microorganisms with a probiotic formula that feeds on river pollutants, creating a new system for improving water quality that can impact all kinds of communities.
What did the judges have to say?
"AWA sets a new bar for how products should behave. They should support existing cultural or functional behavioural – instead of expecting people to conform to an ideal product use-case – and be created to reduce harm to the environment from a materials and manufacturing standpoint. AWA went the extra mile and worked alongside its primary audience. As individuals use this soap in their rivers to clean clothes, AWA cleans the rivers at the same time. It’s a poetic nod to sharing the burden of how we take care of our planet and each other."
