2020 was a disjointed year, and The Roman Baths wanted to release a message of comfort. The inspiration came from 8th century poem The Ruin, which talks of an ancient city, probably Bath, and its restorative pools. There’s no complete text, and burn marks obscure sections. This visual of fragmentary words in a damaged text connected with our disjointed 2020 lives. Tom Sharp & Steers McGillan Eves wrote new, original fragmentary, yearning lines which speak of now and of deeper connections with the past.
