For many creatives, winning a Gold, Silver or Bronze means winning a ‘metal’. Inspired by this, we reimagined Singapore’s annual creative award show as a metal celebration titled “MetalFest Gong 2016”. Borrowing from heavy metal’s visual style, tone and manner, the call to entry played up creatives’ obsession with metals.
Painstakingly illustrated by hand, each key visual featured a skeleton — an element often used in the heavy metal genre — clutching or reaching for Gong Show trophies. Participating agencies were also recast as heavy metal bands, with their logos redrawn in that style.
