You and Us - Integration of Displaced People in Baden-Württ

Award: Yellow Pencil

Yellow Pencil / Environmental Design / Temporary Exhibitions / 2010

The history of people who have been displaced is told through the concerted use of different kinds of media. A walkable map of the banishment areas depicts the origins of displaced persons through hundreds of animated arrows marking the routes of their escape. A curved wall guides visitors towards an enormous, slowly rotating ‘banishment’ door, leading into the main room of the exhibition, the Field of Encounter. Here, 28 veterans are telling 28 authentic stories. Mirrored walls extend the field of the veterans infinitely in all directions.
