Wood Pencil / Illustration / Book Design / 2009

Michael Gillette was commissioned to produce a set of covers for a series of James Bond novels published to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Ian Fleming's birth. It was decided that the Bond Girls would be the linking theme. Each cover was assigned a different colour to create a diverse range of moods within the concept. A loose painting technique was employed to enhance the sultry tone of the portraits. Bespoke hand drawn type was designed by the artist and became integral to the image, affording the covers a distinct unity.
