Our brief was to create a new visual identity to separate the English National Opera. or ENO, from the general cultural clutter of other arts institutions, and to showcase the diversity of individual productions and celebrate the eclectic nature of all the disciplines involved within the ENO. We used the circle as the dominant motif, which gave meaning to the existing logo, at the same time creating a distinct and ownable visual identity. This production of 'Cavalleria Rusticana' and 'Pagliacci' (Cav & Pag) has been updated from the original Comedie del Arte style to a 70s northern working men’s club. It is a tale of deception and subterfuge, which is reflected in the illustration.
