Chichu Warmi Belt

The Chumpi turns a traditional woven belt into a prenatal early-warning system for Kichwa women in the Ecuadorian Andes. In communities where regular check-ups are hard to access, Affinity and Canva translated uterine height measurements into a simple visual system woven into the fabric. Each section shows the expected growth of pregnancy. If the belly moves beyond it, the difference becomes visible, signaling it’s time to seek care. By building on a trusted cultural object, the system makes early detection possible even when healthcare is far away.
