Most people in Ghana don’t have access to safe toilets. Washking is a start-up on the verge of changing that by providing affordable, environmentally friendly sanitary facilities. A powerful branding strategy ensures the offer gets the attention it deserves. The identity plays with the toilet as a status symbol and uses regional codes without becoming clichéd. It’s colourful, optimistic, and easy to use – applied on the toilet doors that everyone wants, and accessible via the smartphone that everyone in Ghana has. The results: 1530 ‘washkings and queens’, 17 new jobs, and a successfully expanding business.
