The Modelling Textual Research on Chinese Traditional Shadow Puppets is a richly illustrated book on the traditional art of Chinese shadow puppetry. The book’s design uses a laser engraving of two traditional shadow figures, which are inserted into the two slits of the cover to present a sensory ‘moving shadow’ in its original form. The main colour is fluorescent, reflecting both the folklore and the sense of light and shadow of the colours, which in turn captures the atmosphere of the stage. The black painted margin, black inside cover, title page, and dividers draw the reader into the world of shadow puppets and set the scene for the text to unfold.
