If you study portraits of prominent men of the 20th Century – whether it’s US orchestra conductors, generals or ambassadors – a recognisable shift takes place in 1901. That’s the exact year King C Gillette invented his safety razor with disposable blades. (Note: all names and dates in this campaign for Gillette are accurate.)
