bit.code

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Spatial Design / Installations / 2011

SAP was looking for an impressive way to demonstrate how software helps us to get a grip on our daily ‘information overkill’. In partnership with the Victoria & Albert Museum, SAP commissioned bit.code, a work by German artist Julius Popp, for the exhibition ‘Decode: Digital Design Sensations’. With a large screen comprising spinning black and white tracks representing ones and zeros, bit.code engages the viewer with its movement and mechanical noise. Frequently, bit.code aligns to display relevant keywords from the internet, extracted in real-time using SAP software.
