Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Art Direction / Art Direction for Press Advertising / 2011

Today, for every legal music download, there are six illegal downloads. Internet piracy and illegal copying are destroying musicians’ livelihoods. Young artists in particular are concerned about the impact on their income, as well as their entire existence as musicians. We took covers of legendary music albums and copied them with a standard photocopier – over and over again – until the well-known album covers were only barely recognisable. This technique demonstrates the effect of copying: the more you copy, the more music will disappear.
