Driver distraction is a growing problem in New Zealand. Each year a staggering number of serious crashes are caused by drivers using their mobile phones behind the wheel. A recent study reported that two thirds of young people admitted to taking their eyes off the road to read and send text messages while driving. Our challenge was to inform people of the dangers, but our idea went one step further, and created a way to let them actually experience how something as simple as texting while driving can have fatal consequences.
