We had two particularly strong stories in our fiction issue and we needed dramatic images that would set the mood. Demetrios Psillos was an immediate choice for Joshua Ferris’s story, ‘Uncertainty’, about an obscenely unpleasant man. Psillos is an artist who creates great characters, often with humour. Here the bright, jarring colours capture the unsettling theme of the story. The large colour illustrations make a fabulous contrast with the pages of dense text that follow, with simple, understated graphic elements.
