Meat poster for HEIDELBERG

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Graphic Design / Posters / 2007

We designed a poster that would show the technology available and be visually conceptual for a seminar by Heidelberg on their colour matching system (maintaining the same calibration between a computer monitor, inkjet printer and printing machine). With regard to the technology, pale colours are more difficult to control than bright colours. Hence the use of the pale colour of meat's skin. The theme is lust: the meat looks real, which repels people owing to its size and clarity. Yet at the same time, this grotesqueness makes it appealing. Gold is lust and the desire for money and beauty. The reason you want to see both the meat and the gold is the same. But equally, meat is grotesque and gold is beautiful.
