No Parking
Wood Pencil / Graphic Design / Signage & Information Graphics / 2007
The brief was to create a device to stop people from parking on the pavement outside our agency. Whatever we made had to do a better job than the existing no parking sign which everyone was completely ignoring. It had to be nice to look at, while communicating the message clearly, and it also couldn't annoy the neighbours too much. The final outcome came from subverting existing road sign iconography. We wanted to retain the official and instructional qualities of traditional signage, while making it playful and unexpected. It is a new way of using this medium creatively and it's lovely to see people taking photos of them as they walk past.
