New Blood Entry — Out West

I was set the challenge of designing the branding for a true crime podcast set in the time of the American frontier - the design had to spread across several forms of media, including out of home spaces of our own choosing, the audible website, and the audible app. I overcame this brief firstly by looking at symbols present in many Western movies, looking for images that could be synonymous with both true crime and the wild west. I illustrated these and worked on a style that could accurately portray the content of the podcast, which - having an older audience - would likely be dark and contain potentially violent content. For the final appearance of the design, I was inspired by director Sergio Leone and in turn his inspiration Akira Kurosawa.
