New Blood Entry — #WATTSMOVEYOU

Award: Wood Pencil

Bacardí / 2019

In 2017 Puerto Rico suffered one of the largest natural disasters in its history, with hurricane Maria completely destroying the island. Although the island remained in a blackout for months, Puertoricans never lost their energy.

Inspired by them, we decided to create the first ever summer festival powered by dance. Using Pavegen Tiles, a technology that turns footsteps into energy, we lined the festival floor so every dance move could contribute to the festival’s electricity, making the event self-sustainable.

Thanks to this innovation and the world class artists on our lineup, our summer festival became a trending topic, everyone was talking about it. #WATTSMOVEYOU.

Afterwards, the tiles were distributed to La Casa Bacardí, which is one of the most visited places on the island, and to places of abundant nightlife, so that Puerto Ricans can keep powering up their lives as long as they dance.
