Environmental Design - Spatial Design / 2013

A selection of design solutions to solve the problems of the traveling businessman/woman. Jet lag, lack of natural light and looking at artificial screens can all cause sleep deprivation. The solutions to these problems are designed to be 'individual' pieces that can fit into any of the varied Holiday Inn's. The ceiling seen above the 'travel info and ticket' area is one of the un-described parts in the animation and resembles plane streaks (using LED strips wrapped in wool). Checking your plane timetable and the opportunity to buy tickets will help remove the stress and uncertainty of the busy airports. This area is also modeled on the common bevel and curve typography found in airports and VIP lounges. Offering both private and social workstations will apply to all of the people, weather for work or social purposes (skype screens are available here) but most importantly they keep people out of their bedrooms during this time of artificial light exposure. The natural light emitted from the LIGHT BAR and HUSH BOOTHS will let people top up on the lack of light from the correct 'natural' colour spectrum with proven positive effects on sleep.
