Redacted Type

Redacted Type is a typeface that visualizes censorship. Inspired by redacted documents, it takes what is usually characterized by absence, and makes it visible. Using distorted vowels, the typeface remains barely readable, but leaves noticeable gaps in the understanding of the text. The way censorship impacts our understanding of the world. The project aims to spark reflection and conversation about freedom of information, control of narratives, and the role of literature in a democratic society.
