Motion Tales

Modern literacy systems are rooted in traditions that prioritise linear text, often overlooking the body as a tool for understanding. However, storytelling has never relied solely on written words; gesture and movement have long played an important role in how stories are shared across cultures. Motion Tales is an interactive reading experience that reimagines reading as a physical act. In this project, the reader uses movement and gestures to guide and interact with the text. Inspired by the storytelling traditions of Penguin and Monotype’s typography, excerpts from different cultural versions of Cinderella respond dynamically, turning the reader’s body into an interface that navigates and brings the narrative to life.
