The Philipstown WireCar Grand Prix

The Philipstown WireCar Grand Prix

In a remote desert town in South Africa, imagination and a knack for fashioning tin cans and scrap metal into dream cars, fuels a group of teenage kids’ passion to race in the Phillipstown Wire Car Grand Prix, the only race of its kind in the world. Here, teenagers race wire cars over wild rocky terrain for a gruelling 3 km, each battling for the medal that will make them a town champion. The race offers a platform for their talent, an opportunity to become known, and a chance to fashion a better life for themselves and their community. A joy-fueled race against isolation and inequality.
