Irmela vs. Nazis

Nazi Germany: the nation’s darkest chapter was enabled by millions who chose not to see, not to act. Today, as far-right extremism rises again, toom, a leading German DIY retailer, refused to look away. Building on its iconic brand line (one of the most well-known ones in Germany) "Respect for doing it yourself," toom teamed up with 80-year-old peace prize winner Irmela Mensah-Schramm, who has spent her life removing Nazi propaganda – only with DIY tools: In powerful ads, Irmela used scrapers, brush and spray paint to safeguard democratic values – and inspired million others to DO IT YOURSELF.
