Theo Jansen Exhibition
Wood Pencil / Spatial Design / Exhibition Design / 2012
Jansen’s Strandbeesten are giant structures assembled from plastic tubes. They traversed the oceans of the Netherlands to arrive in the forests of Oita. The show was structured to allow visitors to vicariously experience the evolution of beesten. Earthscape added various features to the space using the earth itself from beesten's home beach, Scheveningen, and Oita. Just as the natural scenery of Holland and Oita are connected by horizons, so are all living things connected. To express these lines of connection, we inscribed captions between the show's entrance and exit, at a height of 145cm.
