Jake Courage Cinema Project

Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Ambient / Ambient / 2008

Jake Courage is a fictional war photographer we created to help tell the story of the main protagonist in the Halo war, ‘Master Chief’. A selection of his most celebrated and dramatic images formed the basis of a black and white exhibition, entitled ‘Shooting a Hero’, and were shown in an East London gallery, as well as 52 cinemas across the UK. A short documentary about the life of Jake Courage was also screened, and was seen by over 60,000 people at jakecourage.com. As a testament to the exhibition’s appeal, every single one of the 800 framed images were stolen and are now genuine collectors items.
