Photography / 2013

I took this photo of a friend of mine last summer. We went together with another few friends on a field trip. It was scorching hot and we realized we had forgotten to take water along. We happened to come across a muddy little pond but driven by the heat, decided to plunge in. This was taken just a few minutes before we got soaked. I felt this image, even though quite simple and straightforward encapsulated some core element of being young. My friend looks both vulnerable yet spontaneous and up for anything. She looks directly and unapologetically into the lens. For me, this photo brings back memories of a fun and worry free summer. These types of memories are usually generated when we’re young, to be treasured in the future.
