Duo the Homecrowd
At the 2028 LA Olympics, the Refugee Olympic Team (EOR) competed in a linguistic vacuum without a national crowd. Recognizing that "Home" is linguistic belonging, Duolingo mobilized 500 million users to become the world’s largest "Home Crowd." We launched "EOR Cheering Courses" to teach users powerful phrases in the athletes' native languages. This effort extended to the physical world with "Cheering Packages" and a "Dedicated Cheering Section" at the LA Memorial Coliseum. By transforming learners into a synchronized support system, Duolingo ensured no athlete felt alone. Through the power of language, we finally provided these athletes with their own Home Crowd.
