Having Duolingo as our brief sponsor we partnered with UNHCR to rethink language learning for the people who need it most. Instead of playful phrases, we introduced real-life scenarios refugees face, such as asking for legal help, medical assistance, or applying for asylum. These unexpected lessons appeared inside the regular app, sparking confusion and viral discussion online. The reveal: Duolingo2Integrate, a dedicated in-app hub built to help asylum seekers communicate in urgent situations. By turning language learning into a survival tool, the initiative makes essential communication accessible to those rebuilding their lives in a new country.
