Snakey Trick

Inspired by the classic Shaw Brothers kungfu film Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow, this work fuses the visual language of traditional martial arts manuals with contemporary illustration, transforming the spirit and form of kungfu into a modern design aesthetic. The typography draws from the fluid strokes of calligraphy—graceful yet powerful—embodying the beauty of “softness overcoming strength.” Each stroke concludes with a serpent-like flourish, expressing the flowing rhythm of Eastern energy. The design unfolds in four colour palettes, each representing a distinct flavour.
