Maxim Gaok - Where Coffee Slows Down

In Korea, coffee is usually consumed quickly, as a daily habit rather than for slow enjoyment. To challenge this fast coffee culture, Maxim introduced Pung-nyu, the Korean aesthetics of slowness, across the entire venue. The brand reimagined a traditional Ga-ok as the foundation of the experience, and applied this philosophy to spatial design, tasting menus, and interactive programs. Stone mills and charcoal fires were used for grinding and brewing, creating an immersive slow ritual. By slowing every touchpoint, Maxim shifted the focus from quick consumption to deeper brand engagement.
