Invisible Petitions

For Invisible Petitions, a real message written by a woman asking for protection was blown up to the size of a building, its headline taken from her own words: "I don't want to die". It was placed in prominent OOH advertising locations, showing the authorities and the public the brutal reality of gender-based violence. The real petition was shown on an apartment in the Zincirlikuyu neighborhood, a prime location in Istanbul. It was meant to remain there for one week but was pulled down within 12 hours. Invisible Petitions birthed its own movement, with people creating posters, T-shirts, social media filters, audio messages and artworks.
