Hoffmann Building Signs

Aldeburgh Music opened a new campus in a former maltings building last year. Architect Haworth Tompkins kept the industrial feel, retaining many exposed surfaces, to reflect the building’s heritage. Silk Pearce’s design of the signs and environmental graphics is similarly sensitive to the location. Working from detailed design layouts, a traditional signwriter painted directly onto the walls and doors. The carefully chosen colours reflect the architect’s colour scheme, while the upper case sans serif typeface strikes a balance between Victorian signwriting and a contemporary design approach.
