British Design, Classics Stamps
This stamp issue started with the 50th anniversary celebrating the first Mini rolling off the Longbridge production line. The Mini is the most popular British-made car in the world. A further nine equally iconic British Design Classics were required to create a set of ten. All had to be considered instantly recognisable and icons of their era, honouring the design not theinvention. The stamp design was defined by simplicity and authenticity, with commissioned photography portraying them as heroes, stripping away any distractions. The framing brings a cohesive style to disparate objects, creating a strong graphic quality. Sourcing pristine originals to photograph was a monumental task.
