Sightwalks

We designed a tactile signage system that helps visually impaired individuals identify nearby services by tapping the sidewalk with their cane. Following a universal pattern, horizontal bars on the sidewalk indicate tiles with vertical lines that represent different businesses. For example, one line is a restaurant, two lines a bank, and so on. This system allows blind individuals to navigate independently without needing assistance. It’s a simple, low-tech, large-scale solution that positively impacts their daily lives.
